How do Solar Panels (Solar PV) work?
The panels attached to your roof generate elctricity when the sun shines on them. The stronger the sunlight is, the more electricity is generated but electricity can still be generated even on a cloudy day.
Will my own electricity be free?
You get free electricity during daylight hours when your solar panels are generating electricity – resulting in highly reduced electricity bills. Many people who have Solar PV Systems in Cumbria set their dishwashers and washing machines to run during the day to take advantage of this.
How is the payment that I receive calculated?
You get a Guaranteed TAX FREE revenue stream of 43.3 pence per kWh for the next 25 years and the rate will rise with inflation PLUS Extra payments of 3 pence per kWh for export to the national grid (based on 50% of your generated power)
When and How do I get my payments?
Payments are paid by cheque or straight into your bank account every quarter.
What about Free Solar Panels?
The reason that they are “free” is that the company offering them make all the money on the deal, otherwise, why would they do it? You may also find that you have problems selling your property at any time up to 25 years after installation
